Went to Rehoboth Beach in August and boy was it swell! Our first (and most disappointing) stop for dinner was at Dogfish Head:

I was honored to be  added to the hallowed stairs of past managers:

The weather the next morning was lovely:

we breakfasted on crêpes:

The boardwalk is legit:

As was the beach itself, however there were too many jellyfish:

The Rainbow flip flops I bought upon arrival were killing my feet:

Had lunch at some Deli, standard issue belly ballasts:

Evening settled over us after several more hours on the sand, it was breezy and comfortable:

Went to the amusement area:

Every night back at the hotel we went to the pool, the younger kids favorite part:

Back at the room the kids ate popcorn from sanitary napkin bags, nice!

The next day starts with a black eye espresso and Dostoevsky:

And later some house-made ice cream, bacon flavor was actually pretty good with little pieces of bacon in it:

Back at the amusement park area Naomi won the races:

Susan and I headed out that night

to Rehoboth Ale House and had the spiciest wings of our life and some beverages:

Had a great time. When we headed home we looked for some points of interest near the bay bridge, specifically we wanted crabs:

Found them under the bridge:

Forgot the name of the restaurant, but they were good crabs:

The oysters were awful and sent back. For dessert we had some more house-made ice cream which was near absolute zero in temperature, Miles showed us how it’s done:

We all left satisfied and ready for home. Look forward to returning next year.

Something perhaps only Bourdain could summon – in reference to the show Lazytown:

LAZYTOWN? This show totally creeps me out. In this candy colored ode to eugenics, live action “Sporticus” matches wits with the malevolent “Robbie Rotten” among various puppets in a stylized village populated by a credulous and generally helpless populace of Untermenschen, all of whom look to their blimp-dwelling hero as their unelected leader.

Untermenschen! Quite a humorous read indeed.

Went to VA Beach in July, Susan hooked us up with a couple rooms a block from the sand – one for us, one for Thomas and the kids:

weather looked threatening:

but it cleared up.

Settled on the beach a while, got hungry and found a place to sit and have tacos nearby:

After all day on the beach we went back and swam in the hotel pool a while, then Miles watched TV and crashed:

Went and ate more Mexican food for dinner outside:

Was a good trip, but too short. When I got home I went over to the neighbor ladies house and she had a package for me, my murdered out Chub Hubs laced to some B43 rims:

Went to Kings Dominion for a couple days:

It rained a bit during the first day so after hitting some coasters and kids rides:

we left for dinner and came back at night when the crowds and rain had cleared.

Went on the Volcano coaster front row at night – it was thrilling. Na and Bas did it something like 5 times as there was no line which is unusual for one of the parks most popular rides. Stayed until the park closed, we were literally one of the last ones out of the park:

Once we walked back to the hotel, Miles crashed in no time:

The next day everyone but Miles got to do the Drop Tower, probably my favorite ride in the park. Naomi and I managed to do it over 4 times each, Logan did it 3 times(!) and Susan and Bas were fine with just doing it once:

Had a great time at the park actually, was skeptical as we ordinarily head to Hershey Park, but Kings Dominion definitely didn’t disappoint.

Rode to Reston via W&OD bike path, its cool passing over 495 traffic:

Susan and I took the youngsters downtown via metro, it was mostly easy going and not as crowded as expected. The energy of the crowd and the lovely weather made for a pleasant evening.

The fireworks were over pretty fast and the queue for the metro home formed quickly. We waited around for an hour by grabbing a bite to eat and letting the boys play, but the line showed no signs of progress so Susan sort of snuck us in without incident.

Went out again to Old Rag, this time taking along Dillon and Bas, had a nice time aside from combating wood nettles and ticks:

Took Sebastian to the skate park I found in Falls Church, he dug it. A nice place to drop him off during the summer:

Biked 20 or so miles to Shirlington and back via the W&OD trail on Friday. Met up with Nate and Zeke in Great Falls, they had already biked from Herndon.

After getting a look at the total trail length, I want to bike the entire thing, or at least go all the way to Purcellville. Including the distance to and from the bike path, that would be a trip length of about 86 miles.

I will have to wait to get a new saddle and some padded cycling shorts however as this trip took its toll on my posterior.
